First 5 Program Overview FIGHTING POVERTY WITH PASSION … To break the cycle of poverty through children's health and education, the First 5 Service Corps Program works with leading California nonprofit organizations that target families with young children. First 5 offers individuals the opportunity to serve as AmeriCorps or VISTA (Volunteers in Service To America) members to help meet crucial community needs through direct client services, program development, marketing, fund development, and evaluation. Participants immerse themselves through full-time service and receive a wealth of benefits including a $4,725 Educational Award, monthly living allowance, health insurance, housing stipend, training, and much more.
