First 5 Service Corps

AmeriCorps and VISTA members are part of a federally funded service initiative organized by the Corporation for National and Community Service in which individuals help communities meet specific needs through a variety of service opportunities. These AmeriCorps and VISTA members are placed on specific projects that focus on building and sustaining programs that support the Children and Families Commission of Orange County’s goal that every child enters school healthy and developmentally-ready to learn. AmeriCorps members provide direct client services including in-home visitation, early literacy awareness, health education, parent education, resource referrals, and outreach. VISTA members support the development of programs and services through fund development, recruiting volunteers, increasing public relations capacity, developing community partnerships, evaluating services, project planning, and building program infrastructure.
